Reporting to the Dean of Science, the Director, Rankin School of Nursing provides leadership to a talented team of faculty, nurse educators, support staff, and approximately 600 students.

This is an exciting, collaborative leadership opportunity to deliver on the school’s vision to influence the future direction of nurse education in Canada in a dynamic environment that cultivates curiosity and graduates nurses who understand the complexity of nursing practice and the multi-level interventions required to address the needs of patients, families, communities, and populations.

The Director, Rankin School of Nursing is accountable for all academic programs, faculty, nurse educators, and support staff within the organization. The Director provides inspiration and direction, coordination, and development for the optimum outcomes of the school. They provide leadership to all aspects of nursing programs including a new concept based curriculum and promote a work-life culture and community that inspires excellence in scholarship, practice, research, and knowledge development.

The successful candidate is a Ph.D. nurse, registered or eligible for registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Nova Scotia. They will have at least 5 years of experience as a scholar, strategic leader, and academic administrator with oversight on academics, research, and clinical delivery, ideally in a post-secondary setting. They possess direct experience working within a collegial setting with diverse stakeholders to advance the nursing profession and have exceptional communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills. They have demonstrated experience effectively supporting and leading teams through change and cultivating innovative and creative approaches to complex nursing situations. They will be knowledgeable of multiple delivery models for nursing education. The position will be a three-year renewable leadership appointment tenured to the School of Nursing.
