Manager of Equity and Access, Nova Scotia Barristers' Society (Filled)

As the regulator of the legal profession, the Nova Scotia Barristers’ Society protects the public interest in the practice of law. The Society is the independent, trusted and respected regulator of the legal profession. Acting in the public interest, the Society provides leadership, value and support to a competent, ethical, inclusive and engaged legal profession.

To support the Society’s strategic priorities of enhancing access to legal services and the justice system as well as the promotion of equity, diversity and inclusion in the profession, the Society is seeking a Manager of Equity and Access.

Reporting to the Executive Director of the Society, the Manager will bring a significant knowledge of the Canadian legal system and the legal profession, as well as the structure, culture and operations of law firms and practitioners in both the public and private sectors.

As the successful candidate, you possess a deep understanding of the history of diverse communities within Nova Scotia and a proven track record of applying best practices to create collaborative models that enhance access and equity. Your well developed conflict resolution and negotiation skills are complemented by strong leadership and organizational skills and your ability to influence change. You have a reputation for effective management of projects, priorities and people, and strength in the use of data and statistics. You are an excellent facilitator and communicator known for your outstanding presentation skills, both oral and written.

You possess a degree in law, social policy, public policy, a related field of study or a relevant combination of education and experience. You have a minimum of five years of direct experience in the equity field or comparable related experience and an extensive network of related contacts or an ability to build a network.
