Reporting to the President and Vice-Chancellor, the Vice President, Finance and Administration plays an integral role in the achievement of StFX’s academic mission, providing leadership, oversight, and stewardship of the University’s financial and administrative operations. They are a champion, protector, promoter and enabler of the University’s strategic objectives and long-term sustainability, demonstrated through a relentless commitment to excellence, accountability, transparency, innovation and leadership.
Working closely with both internal and external stakeholders, the Vice President, Finance and Administration is a forward-thinking, inclusive and collegial leader. They are skilled at providing strategic direction and leadership to a talented management team across a diverse, comprehensive portfolio including Finance, Information Technology, Ancillary Services, Facilities Management, Athletics and Recreation, Risk Management and Human Resources.
The role requires a leader with exceptional financial management and interpersonal skills who has a track record of collaboration, fosters a culture of transparency with financial information and is personally committed to the sustainability of the University.
The ideal candidate has a minimum of 10 years demonstrated executive leadership experience as a senior finance and operational leader working within complex, unionized environments. Experience in academic, municipal, crown corporation or government organizations is an asset. They have a Bachelor’s degree in Business or a related discipline, with a Chartered Professional Accounting (CPA)designation and proven experience in financial and capital planning, human resources, labour relations, information systems and risk management. A master communicator, they are adept at cultivating and developing trusted relationships across multiple stakeholder groups and are skilled at empowering and leading high performing teams. The successful candidate has passion and an action-orientation to lead with impact.
