For more than 80 years, Commissionaires Nova Scotia (CNS), a not-for-profit organization, has been providing premiere security services to Nova Scotian companies and organizations throughout the province. Historically known for its social mandate to provide meaningful employment to military and police veterans, CNS now employs more than 1300 trained professionals at over 200 sites across the province. CNS is a leader in providing security services including guarding, threat risk assessments, by-law enforcement, police clearances, federally certified unmanned aerial systems, closed circuit television monitoring, record suspension, and US waiver services. Part of Commissionaires Canada, employing over 22,000 security professionals nationwide, CNS is recognized with global International Standardization Organization (ISO) certifications (9001:2015, 14001:2015, and 18788:2015) and accreditations for our exceptional customer service, management standards, and environmental stewardship. Commissionaires Nova Scotia is also this year’s recipient of the Chamber of Commerce ‘Not for Profit Company of the Year’.
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Chief Operating Officer (COO) is a key member of CNS’s executive team, responsible for the organization’s operational strategy and execution of exceptional service delivery. The COO will provide strategic guidance on expanding service offerings, addressing operational challenges, and developing and implementing policies and procedures to enhance departmental operations. Taking an analytical approach, the COO oversees the operational budget and drives the purchase of capital equipment to meet operational requirements. Through collaboration with District Managers and Human Resources, the COO ensures that all contracts are appropriately staffed and that all personnel policies and procedures comply with regulations.
