Reporting to the Managing Partner, PEI and accountable to PEI’s Partners, the Chief Operating Officer (COO) plays a critical role in the strategic and operational management of the firm. Enabling Cox & Palmer’s PEI professionals, the COO is a key contributor to the firm’s successful delivery of exceptional legal services to valued local, national, and international clients. Leveraging regional and industry best practices and an innovative mindset, the COO collaborates with PEI’s Partners to help set the direction and vision for the organization and is responsible for executing and delivering on the objectives set out in the strategic plan. They oversee and align people, processes, and resources that ensure operational excellence, with overall responsibility for finance, human resources, marketing and business development, information technology, administration, and facilities. The COO fosters a culture of continued growth and impact, with a focus on maintaining and growing excellent relationships with clients and other key stakeholders.

The successful candidate has an undergraduate degree in the field of business administration, law, or related field, coupled with 5 or more years of experience in a leadership role within a corporate environment. Candidates may bring applicable skills and experience from outside of the legal services sector, while experience working within a legal or professional services environment is considered an asset. The ideal candidate is self-starting, proactive, and thoughtful. They are an exceptional communicator, a consensus builder adept at cultivating strong relationships, building high-functioning teams, and are skilled in influencing a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
