Reporting to the President & Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Chief Operating Officer (COO) oversees the operations of the organization, aligning people, and resources and driving operational excellence and resilience to support continued growth, expansion, and impact.

Together with the Board of Directors, CEO, and executive leadership team, the COO helps set the strategic direction and vision for the organization and is responsible for executing and delivering on goals as set out in the strategic plan and annual business plan. The COO is a dynamic leader and coach, providing guidance and support to a talented executive team, with overall responsibility for regulatory, human resources and infrastructure, service delivery, information and analytics, engineering and planning and marketing, customer experience, and partnerships functions within the organization. An inclusive leader, the COO promotes a culture of empowerment, innovation, accountability, and results. An organizational change agent, they are accountable for driving alignment and operational efficiencies and scaling across the business through modern technology, data-enabled practices and processes, executing and monitoring the business plan and achievement of targets, identifying and managing risk, exploring and managing opportunities and developing and cultivating high performing teams.

The ideal candidate has an undergraduate or master’s degree in business, finance, engineering, or a related field coupled with at least ten years of senior leadership experience leading operations and cross-functional teams through growth and change in complex, multi-stakeholder environments. The COO has a stellar track record of delivering strategic objectives and generating strong performance results across broad business functions. They are an authentic people leader with exceptional communication skills. They have strong financial acumen and excellent corporate board governance experience. Experience in energy, energy efficiency and greenhouse gas mitigation are considered assets as are regulatory and government relations experience.
